As winter deepens into February, we’re in the Water season in Chinese medicine — a time that emphasizes conservation, recovery, and nervous-system downshifting. Shorter days and colder temperatures naturally shift the body toward rest-and-repair, making this an ideal moment to prioritize restoration, circulation, and steady breathing.
Join Rae Helsel and Tarcy Rosario and Hans Joseph for a 75-minute restorative class designed for winter resilience. Expect a slow, grounded flow with generous props and intuitive hands-on assists to support joint decompression, improved diaphragmatic breathing, and a shift from sympathetic “go mode” into parasympathetic recovery. Gentle pressure and supported shapes can help reduce muscular guarding, improve comfort in the ribcage and hips, and open the space for more mobility in the body.
Live, meditative cello by Hans provides a steady sound meditation to sink into that supports relaxation and slower brain-wave states, helping the system settle and integrate. The intention is simple and measurable: calmer baseline, smoother breath, lower perceived stress, and a more resourced body heading back into training — aligned with winter’s Water element from a Chinese medicine perspective with themes of restoring the tank and building deep resilience.
